How the Permit got its name is a mystery, but its Latin name mean’s “back armed with scythes,” referring to the long dorsal fin. This fin, protruding from the water when feeding in the shallow flats, gets any Permit addict’s blood flowing. Many anglers have devoted their lives to pursuing Permit, they are one of the most difficult fish to catch on the globe.
